SOUTH WARWICKSHIRE CARERS' SUPPORT SERVICE

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2009

We had a well attended AGM on Thursday 8th October at the wonderful venue of Helen Ley Care Centre. A number of local Mayors; the Chair of Warwickshire Council Council, Councillor Peter Barnes; the Chair of Warwick District Council, Councillor Norman Pratt and the High Sheriff of Warwickshire, Lady Kilmaine, spoke of their own experiences of caring and thanked the Service for all its sterling work. Presentations were made by the Adult Carers Team Manager, the Young Carers Team Manager and the Project Co-Ordinator for the newly launched Caring with Confidence. A large number of Carers were able to attend this year. Following the formal closure of the AGM Clive Blakey, the incoming Chair of Trustees, presented the Acting Chair, Lila Morgan, who had presided over the last few AGMS with a bouquet of flowers and thanked her for her contribution and commitment in challenging and developing times. Lila will remain on the Board of Trustees as Vice Chair.

At the AGM we said goodbye to Ed Moss whose first link with the organisation was as Young Carer, later as Volunteer, Sessional Worker and Young Carers' Administrator. Ed goes off to take up a place with Coventry Young Carers as a Project Worker and we will him well in his new role.
